Fulham boss Rene Muelensteen is confident that 31-year old striker Dimitar Berbatov will stay at Craven Cottage for the rest of the season, reports the International Business Times. North London clubs Arsenal and Tottenham were rumoured to hold a strong interest in the former Man United star, who wants out of the club.
Berbatov has reportedly expressed a desire to play for a more ambitious club going forward and he would fit the bill well for Arsenal and Tottenham. Both clubs are in need of striker reinforcements but Muelensteen insists that there has been no contact from either club yet.
Berbatov is out of contract at Craven Cottage at the end of this season and speaking about the Bulgarian’s plans for the rest of the season, his manager said, “I expect him to stay yes, because there has been no interest so far.”
Berbatov has been seen sporting a rather resigned look on numerous occasions on the pitch this, which has fueled speculation about his future at the club.
One reckons that Arsenal and Tottenham could keep Berbatov as their last ditch option in this window though as the North London clubs are plotting moves for much bigger fish at the moment.
