Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech blames Saints counterpart for failure to win

Arsenal’s Petr Cech has claimed that only Fraser Forster stood in the way of his side getting all three points last night.

The former Chelsea goalkeeper played his part in a 0-0 stalemate last night, but he had less work to do in keeping a clean sheet.

Cech is now annoyed that his side now have to rely on other teams to slip up if they are to win the title.

“We had the position where we could only look at ourselves, but now we are behind and we need some of the results to go our way,” He said.

“But there’s a long way to go and there is always a twist in the tail.

“So as long as we keep working hard, keep getting results and searching for points then there is a belief we can do it and there are more than enough points for us to put ourselves back on top of the league.

“Fraser Forster robbed us of two points and it was only thanks to him that they got a point.

“They did really well in the first half but in the second half we created so many chances, probably the most chances we have created this season at home, and we just couldn’t find the back of the net because he was so outstanding and made important saves.

“The worrying thing would be if you didn’t create but when you have six, seven clear chances… Obviously you need to finish them off but sometimes you have a goalkeeper who has an outstanding game.

“It’s not ideal to drop two points at home but, as I said, it was one of those games where we deserved to get more out of the game but didn’t.”

With Man City taking on Leicester City this weekend, a win has never been more important in the title race.
