Arsenal talks: Could Elneny miss out with coveted Liverpool target in talks

Arsenal have been heavily expected to announce the transfer of Mohamed Elneny from FC Basel this month, but proceedings appear to have been delayed for some reason or another.

Reports are now emerging claiming that Arsene Wenger is in talks with Veronique Rabiot, over a potential deal for her son, and client, Adrien Rabiot.

The 20 year-old has been on the Gunners radar for some time now, while Liverpool and Tottenham have also been linked.

Arsenal are believed to have been keen on landing the Frenchman last January, before he agreed to extend his contract with the French champions, but he now looks set on an exit.

Rabiot announced he wanted to leave during the current window, having struggled to break into his star-studded team’s starting line-up on regular occasion.

His agent is now reported to have met with the Gunners boss, and a move looks likely to be completed this month.

Elneny had been expected to seal a move to Arsenal this month, but could have had his move delayed following developments in the chase to sign the PSG midfielder.

Either that or the North-London side could be closing on two holding midfielders in the same month, which could please fans who have been calling for defensive midfield arrivals for the past few years.
