Aston Villa £25 Million valuation of Benteke has done its job of putting off potential bidders

That Aston Villa’s beast of a striker Christian Benteke was the find of last season is an undisputed fact. Villa snared themselves a real bargain landing the Belgian powerhouse for around 7 million pounds, and Paul Lambert’s decision to start the 22 year old ahead of former England international Darren Bent was completely justified.

Now, Villa face the inevitable speculation that comes with a player being successful in the Premier League with the vultures circling Villa Park, hoping to snare Lambert’s discovery for a bargain price.

Villa though are showing no interest in negotiating with clubs and have placed am ambitious price tag of 25 million pounds on their young striker, putting off a whole host of suitors.

The approach seems to be working for now with the bookmakers naming them favourites to hang on to their star striker despite interest from all around Europe. Bwin is offering odds of 1.40 on Benteke staying on with the Villans while all potential suitors see odds in excess of 5.00.

Bet Victor are offering odds of 5.00 and 6.00 on Tottenham and Liverpool snaring the young striker, while SkyBet are offering odds of 9.00 and 10.00 on Atletico Madrid and Arsenal respectively.
