Aston Villa have become the latest in a long line of Premier League clubs to be linked with a loan move for Arsenal’s Serge Gnarby ahead of the new Premier League season, according to reports in the English press. The Gunners are said to be keen to temporarily offload the 19 year old, in order for his development to continue elsewhere.
Aston Villa join Southampton, Newcastle United, Crystal Palace and Sunderland as Gnarby’s options appear extensive. It is believed that the player would prefer to stay at the Emirates Stadium next season, but seeing as his first-team opportunities are set to be very limited, Arsene Wenger wants him to gain playing time elsewhere.
With the influx of attacking talent at the North London club at the moment, Gnarby does not stand much of a chance of being granted an Arsenal opportunity just yet. Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Ozil, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, Santi Cazorla and Alexis Sanchez are all expected to be selected ahead of him.
Villa will hope that they can offer the most attractive of places to spend a season-long loan, as Paul Lambert tries to develop a young side into winners. Gnarby could prove to be a regular first-team presence for the Villains, as they look to improve on their last two lowly Premier League finishes. Arsenal still view Gnarby as a star of their future, so there is little indication that a temporary move will transform into a permanent one next summer. The plan is just to allow the player to develop quickly and effectively.
