Atletico Madrid are set to rival Valencia for the signature of Manchester United’s Juan Mata, as reported by GiveMeSport.
Mata has fallen way down the pecking order since the arrivals of Ander Herrera, Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao, and is rumoured to be expendable by current boss Louis Van Gaal.
United invested heavily in the transfer market this summer, having spent just over £145 Million, and are set for another busy window in January.
Juan Mata is expected to leave to make way for a central midfield star, with the likes of Kevin Strootman, Paul Pogba and Arturo Vidal all linked with the Red Devils.
The former two-time Chelsea Player of the Year only signed for the Old Trafford club in January, and is seemingly about to be pushed out of another Premier League club due to a change in manager.
Jose Mourinho placed the Spaniard on his bench on arrival at Chelsea last season, despite the 26 year-old being a club favourite.
