Chelsea and Liverpool wonderkid-target ‘not for sale at any price’

The Express is reporting that Porto president Pinto Da Costa has claimed he will not sell Ruben Neves.

The 18 year-old has been linked with moves to both Liverpool and Chelsea in the coming window, having emerged as one of the most coveted young midfielders in European football.

Neves made his debut 14 months ago for Porto, scoring on his debut, and has played a major role for the club since then, despite not finding the back of the net for his club again.

The deep-lying playmaker made history this week by becoming the youngest ever captain in the Champions League, and his club are keen to keep him, with their president wanting him to stay like a ‘Joao Pinto’, a right-back who played only for Porto and Portugal in his playing career.

He also wanted to correct reports claiming he only had a contract until the end of next season.

Da Costa said: “Ruben has a contract until 2019 and not until 2017, as sometimes I see in writing.

“And we would like to keep him at FC Porto, as a kind of João Pinto,” he told Portuguese newspaper O Jogo.
“That is, he was a symbol and legend of the progress of the club for several generations.“I never want him to leave Porto.”
