The DailyMail are claiming that Real Madrid are eyeing a move to sign John Stones from Everton.
The England international has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea this season, with the Blues having failed with three bids for his signature in the summer alone.
Chelsea made their interest in the defender public in the previous window, which prompted Stones to hand in an official transfer request, which was eventually turned down, and he ended up staying put.
The Premier League champions are claimed to have tabled a fresh bid this month, but Real Madrid are now said to be eyeing the 21 year-old, which will come as a blow to his potential suitors.
Manchester United, Manchester City and Barcelona have also been linked with an interest, although the latter are said to be priced out of the race due to their current financial situation.
Rafa Benitez is credited with informing the Spanish giants about the young centre-back’s ability and potential, and the club are ready to follow up that interest, despite the manager’s recent sacking.
