The Italian Football Federation has confirmed that Antonio Conte will leave his role as Italy manager following this summer’s Euro 2016 tournament.
The 46 year-old has been tipped as the favourite to take over the Chelsea job at the end of the season, and the door now appears to be open for him to do so.
Reports are claiming Conte has already agreed a three-year deal worth £18 Million, with an announcement expected by the Blues in the coming weeks.
Italian Federation’s president Carlo Tavecchio said: “Antonio Conte told me that at the end of the European Championship he will end his experience.
“He feels the lure of the field, the training everyday and this is understandable.”
