Chelsea are claimed in the Metro to be in talks with Alex Teixeira, as they close on the Shakhtar midfielder’s signature.
The Brazilian scored at least one goal in each of his last 10 Ukrainian Premier League matches, bringing his tally up to 22 goals in his 15 league outings so far this season, having failed to score in only two of those games.
Chelsea have been heavily linked with the red-hot star this term, and have also been claimed to have tasked current squad members Oscar and Willian with the job of persuading him to make the switch.
The latter played alongside Teixeira in Shakhtar Donetsk previously, and could welcome reunion, with the pair viewed as their respective club’s best player so far this term.
The Blues have struggled for goals so far this season, while their defence has also come under question, and the Shakhtar midfielder’s arrival could help to steer Chelsea’s season in the right direction.
A contract is said to have been put on the table, with the 26 year-old believed to be keen on the switch.
