John Obi Mikel has called for his Chelsea team to put in their best performance of the year, in order to move past Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League tonight.
The French giants are enjoying a hugely impressive season currently, in which they lead Ligue 1 by a huge 23 points with only nine matches remaining, and remain on target for a domestic treble in France.
Chelsea have been enduring quite the opposite year, and remain way out of the title race, and will need a rich run of form and some torrid results for their rivals in order to qualify for Europe through the Premier League.
The Blues are turning their season around however, and will be looking to overcome a 2-1 deficit from their away leg in Paris three weeks ago, in home of making it through to the quarter finals.
Mikel knows it will not be easy to defeat tonight’s rivals, and is calling for his team to rally.
The Nigerian international said: “It will take our best performance of the season to turn this around. The whole team needs to perform if we are to go through. We have to do it together.
“We attack and defend together. We can’t just look to individuals. They are a very good team but we will find a way to go through.”
