Chelsea are claimed to be set to complete a deal to sign Alexandre Pato this week, despite the club’s manager ruling out the deal only last week.
Gus Hiddink claimed there was no truth in the reports, whilst also insisting that he would look to concentrate on their youth players as back-up to star-striker Diego Costa should Loic Remy and Radamel Falcao continue to struggle on the sidelines.
The Dutch boss was then forced to reconsider that stance following the Everton match on Saturday, after seeing star striker Costa pick up an injury.
The Spain international is now a doubt for the weekend’s London derby, where Chelsea will travel to North-London to take on Arsenal on Sunday.
The West-London side are now expected to sign Pato before the weekend, in an £11 Million deal, despite interest from Liverpool, who have also been linked with his signature.
