Manchester City are the only English side to make it to this season’s quarter final stage of the Champions League, and we are taking a look at the potential draw that awaits tomorrow, with Barcelona being the favourites according to http://www.topbookmaker.co.uk/reviews
The Citizens qualified to the next stage with a 3-1 aggregate win over Dynamo Kiev, and on paper, the remainder of the competitors look tougher to overcome.
The Sky Blues are struggling to cement their place in the top four of the Premier League, which will need to be a priority, and their fans will be hoping to build a gap between themselves and fifth place before the CL comes knocking again.
If they cannot do that, it could be favourable to take on Barcelona, with a make-or-break match up which will either kill them off, or give them the belief that this year could be the year.
Of course no team actually wants to take on the likes of MSN and their scary attacking creativity, but for the style of play at the Etihad, I would actually give them less chance of beating Atletico Madrid than the Catalan giants (call me crazy if you like!).
The obvious teams to want out of the draw are Wolfsburg and Benfica, but I would actually want a stab at Real Madrid in the next round.
The Galacticos have struggled this term, and despite their wealth of superstar players, do not seem to be clicking the way they normally would.
If Man City were lucky enough to get the home tie against Real in the next round, I think they could punish their rivals away struggles with a big enough win to give them a huge chance of making the semi-final.
This win would also install some belief in their chances of winning the competition, and that belief will be needed in the following two rounds.
