The Copa America tournament is a wide-open affair this summer, with a number of key names missing from the squads, with some players opting to play in the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro instead.

Brazil’s squad is severely lacking in well-known stars, especially in the attacking roles, with Neymar the hugest loss to their bid to lift the trophy. Argentina are the deserved favourites with their scary wealth of attacking options, but I prefer to find value in what should be an open affair.

Colombia are my pick to come up trumps this summer, at a nice 11/1 (12.0) to life the trophy. The Coffee Makers were very impressive in the World Cup two years ago, emerging from their group with three wins from three, before being eliminated by the hosts Brazil in what was hugely controversial.

That was against a full-strength Green and Yellow side, and this Colombian side could do some serious damage in America, with the likes of James Rodriguez, Carlos Bacca and Juan Cuadrado set to ignite their hopes.

I have put in a similar track of thought when considering my Euro 2016 winners, and will be taking on Belgium to win their first ever European Championship.

The Belgians were also eliminated in the quarter-final of the World Cup in 2014, being narrowly edged out by Argentina, having won each of their group matches also. The Red Devils have a hugely progressive squad, and should be feared with the likes of Eden Hazard, Kevin De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku and Yannick Carrasco among others in attack.

They are rated as a 11/1 (12.0) shot also, which added to the previous, will give you a 143/1 (144.0) double to be had. You can back selections each-way, at 1/3 and 1/2 odds, giving you a return of at least £300 from a £10 each-way (£20 outlay) stake should they both reach the final.

What will you be backing this summer?
