Crystal Palace are hopeful of making highly rated winger Jonathan Williams put pen to paper on a new deal at Selhurst Park, to prevent him from moving to any of his suitors on the cheap, with the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Everton reported to be keeping tabs on the player.
An unnamed source close to the Eagles was quoted in The Daily Mirror, saying: “Jonny remains a highly sought-after player and the contract will give the club more protection. He has progressed through the Academy and Palace have no intention of letting him leave unless it is a big offer.”
The aforementioned comments hint at Palace’s attempts to increase the player’s market value and prevent him from leaving for a cut-price deal, rather that the club’s wish to hold on to him for a prolonged period.
Jonny Williams, is one of the hottest young prospects in the Eagles team. He has made 7 rather impressive appearances this season, despite being out for more than 2 months due to an ankle injury. Williams also has 4 caps to his name with the Welsh national team.
The talented winger can ply his trade on either flank and is also known to be a competent attacking midfielder. It is no surprise that Arsenal and Man City are eyeing the 20 year old, especially with the youngster touted to make it big in English football.
