Crystal Palace have unsurprisingly jumped into action on hearing rumours that their former winger Wilfried Zaha might soon find himself in the shop window. Zaha’s first season at Manchester United involved a lot of bench warming before Manager David Moyes finally consented to send him out on loan to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Cardiff City in January. While not a regular for Cardiff either, Zaha has shown glimpses of the talent that saw him take the Championship by storm last season, and Palace are on red alert, hoping that they will get a chance to re-sign their former starlet.
Crystal Palace’s Chairman Steve Parish told the Daily Star, “Wilf’s a fantastic player, I certainly think we would be interested. United have not said anything official, he’s their player, but if a player like that did become available then I am sure we would be interested. If we are fortunate enough to stay in the division, we will be looking to kick on and establish ourselves and try to get up to mid-table and be a bit more comfortable.”
It will be interesting to see though if the rumours about Zaha’s reported sale turn out to be true, and how much of a loss United are prepared to make on a player they spent big bucks on last year.
