While complete credit should be given to Liverpool and their manager Brendan Rodgers for the flying start they have made to the 2013-14 Premier League campaign (three wins in three matches) one can’t overlook the contribution of in-form striker Daniel Sturridge.
The 24 year old has been the sole goalscorer each time the Reds have won their league matches this season, however narrowly they may have been. He has seemingly made it a personal point to convey to Chelsea that they have committed a blunder by offloading him. The Englishman’s blazing form certainly hints at a possibility that he may now finish as the Premiership’s top scorer for the season, provided he can stay fit and continue his dream run.
Sturridge is currently third behind Robin Van Persie and Sergio Aguero as one of the favourites for the milestone and as the year progresses he is expected to push the aforementioned duo all the way.
Bet365, Sky Bet and Paddy Power are all offering odds of 11.00 on Sturridge coming up trumps in the race to the Golden Boot, and on present form he appears to be a terrific value bet.
