Besiktas vice-president Ahmet Nur Cebi has confirmed an interest in signing David Ospina from Arsenal, SportsMole reports.
The Colombian international has been forced to sit on the sidelines this season, following the arrival of Petr Cech from Chelsea during the summer.
Ospina was one of the club’s stand-out stars of last term, keeping an impressive eight clean sheets in his 18 Premier League appearances, and will have been disappointed not to be given the chance to continue that run this year.
Having yet to make a league appearance so far, the 27 year-old has been linked with an exit in the coming window, and Besiktas have now confirmed reports linking the club with a move in January.
The Turkish Super Lig club’s vice-president has insisted his club are keen on a deal, although he is unsure if his club could complete the move.
Cebi said: “We are interested in Ospina.
“Him and goalkeepers of his calibre, but just because we want him does not mean he will come.
“We have to agree with his club and take his contract into consideration.”
Arsenal also have Wojciech Szczesny on their books, but he is currently out on loan with Roma, which could block Ospina’s exit until the summer.
