Great odds on Tottenham to beat Crystal Palace on opening day

Tottenham Hotspur are set to begin their 2013-14 Premier League campaign with an away fixture against the Premier League new boys Crystal Palace.
Spurs’ manager Andre Villas-Boas would undoubtedly wish to begin the season on a high and has been given the perfect opportunity to do so.
Although, the match is an away game for the North London side, it is unlikely that the club would be subjected to much pressure of competition at Selhurst Park.
Ian Holloway’s side are expected to be much awed by their return to top flight after a long period and an opening match against one of the Premier League’s best teams might be a bit too much to handle on the opening day of the season, providing Tottenham with a huge mental edge over their opponents even before the first ball is kicked.
More than just a test of talent, it is going to be a test of nerves and anything other than an away win looks like an unlikely prospect.
Tottenham are being given odds of 1.83 by BetVictor of coming out on top, while Stan James is offer 3.80 on a draw. A home win for diehard Eagles fans is best availed at 5.00 from SkyBet.

It is normally not advisable to back an away team at odds on but on this occasion getting the price early may prove to be a wise move.

  1. What an awful article, all the proper bookies saying there’s decent value in laying Spurs as they tend to start slowly, Palace are strong at home and the crowd will be up for it. A team that showed in their last few games they perform best under pressure also. Not saying Palace should be favourites or anything like that but to suggest it should be an easy win for Spurs is laughable, most of the Palace team are internationals so I can’t see them being overawed by the mighty Clint Dempsey and Jermaine Defoe.

Why don’t you watch the two teams a few times and give us a tactical analysis, then someone might take it seriously?
