AC Milan are looking to strike a deal with Chelsea for Branislav Ivanovic this month, the DailyStar claims.#
The Serbia international captain is into the final six months of his current contract, and is yet to be offered an extension.
Ivanovic can talk to clubs about a prospective free transfer at the end of the season from this month onward, but AC Milan are hoping to strike a deal which will see him make an immediate switch.
The 31 year-old has been touted as one of the best defenders in the Premier League in recent years, but has come under scrutiny this season, as his side have struggled for any form of consistency.
The versatile defender will most likely be urged to stay until the end of the season at least, with his experience likely to be key in the club’s bid to return to form under new manager Gus Hiddink.
Chelsea lost Didier Drogba and Petr Cech during the summer, which has been partly blamed for the club’s downfall this term.
