Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels is claimed on TalkSport as set to hand in a transfer request this season.
The German international was heavily linked with a switch to the Premier League in the summer, with Chelsea interested, and Manchester United extremely keen on his capture.
Hummels decided to stay put however, and was expected to sign a new contract following that decision, but no agreement has been met as of yet.
The 26 year-old has 18 months left on his current deal, and Man United are keeping a close eye on proceedings.
Hummels is said to be struggling to settle under new manager Thomas Tuchel this season, having enjoyed his previous years under Jurgen Klopp, who agreed to move to England to join Liverpool this term.
The Red Devils have been strongly linked with bringing a defensive leader to the club since Louis Van Gaal’s arrival, which they have so far failed to accomplish, although Chris (Mike) Smalling has earned a regular starting role in the heart of defence this season.
