Liverpool’s Glen Johnson is into his last year of his contract, and reports claim the defender is not willing to accept a pay-cut to sign an extension with the club, as reported in the Mirror.
The right-back is currently on £110,000 a week, and the Reds are believed to have asked him to take a pay decrease, with the former West Ham man currently out of the first-team.
The Merseyside club signed Javier Manquillo on loan from Atletico Madrid this summer, who has been one of his side’s more consistent performers so far. They also signed Alberto Moreno from Seville to challenge Jose Enrique for the left-back position where Johnson has also played previously.
Johnson is not guaranteed a starting spot for the Reds after the international break having returned from injury at the weekend, and with Juventus said to be monitoring his situation, he may seek pastures new come the end of the season.
Liveropol signed the 30 year-old from Portsmouth for around £16 Million in 2009 and has made 144 Premier League appearances for the club.
