Liverpool ready to fight Arsenal over £35M Argentine strike-target’s signature

The DailyStar is reporting how Liverpool and Arsenal are set to battle it out to sign Inter Milan’s Mauro Icardi.

The Argentine striker is claimed to have been the subject of an offer by the Gunners already this season, with Inter Milan having rejected a £28.8 Million offer for his signature.

Arsenal are said to be set to return with another offer when the January transfer window opens, although they are likely to face competition from Liverpool.

The Anfield club are to try and use new manager Jurgen Klopp to tempt the 22 year-old to move to Liverpool instead.

Chelsea are also known to hold an interest in the Inter forward, and although the Blues are also expected to try to bring in a striker in the coming window, their targets are uncertain at present.

The San Siro side signed Icardi down to a new contract in the summer, and installed the star as their new club captain, and will no doubt hope to fend off the interest in their current leader.
