The Metro claims that Manchester United are to miss out on the signature of Jamie Vardy in January, with Leicester City set to offer him a £16 Million contract.
The Red Devils have struggled in the goalscoring department this season, with captain Wayne Rooney, who is their only senior striker in the squad, having netted only two league goals so far.
United allowed both Radamel Falcao and Robin Van Persie to leave during the summer, with Memphis Depay and Anthony Martial arriving in their place, both of whom starting the season out wide, but have been utilized as a makeshift striker.
The Manchester club are expected to bring in another striker to ease the burden on Rooney and the young forwards, but look set to miss out on Vardy however.
The Leicester City man has broke the record for consecutive Premier League games scored in, having netted against United last week to break Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s previous record of 11 matches in a row.
Vardy now looks destined to reap the rewards of his exceptional form, with a £90,000 per week three-and-a-half year deal, which could see him earn £16 Million should he complete it.
Chelsea, Tottenham and Liverpool have also been linked with an interest in the England international.
