Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal has warned his players ahead of the upcoming derby match with Liverpool, claiming they need to stay calm and controlled.
Steven Gerrard was amusingly dismissed after only 30 seconds on the pitch in one of the clashes last season, and LVG has insisted his side must play aggressively, but with control.
“Last year Gerrard was coming in and he was sent off within 30 seconds,” the manager said.
“That’s not happening so much. So we need to be aggressive but also under control in these kind of matches. That’s always difficult because thee passion to play this kind of game is very high.”
United have been their own worst enemies of late, and could do with the numerical advantage for the upcoming tie, but with both sides having played out 3-3 draws this week, it could spell for an exciting match-up.
