Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has hinted that he might not make a move for Manchester United’s 21-year old starlet Wilfried Zaha in January. The former Southampton manager was full of praise for the winger though and felt that he is close to making a case for himself in the Red Devils first team.
Speaking about Zaha, Pardew said, “I know him very well from his time at Crystal Palace. He was absolutely phenomenal when they got promoted last season. Since he made the big move to Manchester United, his career has maybe stalled a little bit. But I know he is doing well in the background, and maybe he will get an opportunity there.”
Manchester United are keen on letting the 15 million pound acquisition go out on loan to gain more first team experience but it remains to be decided which club would be the right destination for the England international.
Zaha’s previous club Crystal Palace are among those keen to have their former star man back on loan as they aim to survive in the Premier League this season. Palace’s new manager Tony Pulis was quoted in the Daily Star as saying, “We would be interested if he was available. But whether we could do it is another thing”
Zaha was very influential in Palace’s campaign in the Championship last season and was a big factor in their promotion to the Premier League. The 21-year old though has only had 3 games so far for Manchester United and will be desperate for opportunities elsewhere to impress the Red Devils boss.
