The future of Hatem Ben Arfa looks increasingly less likely to be played out at Newcastle United, but the midfielder could be given a fresh start at AC Milan, reports the Daily Mail. Ben Arfa is not at all favoured by Alan Pardew at Saint James’ Park, but he has become a target for the San Siro.
The Frenchman has been told that he can leave the Magpies for £12 million, and is currently training behind closed doors in England whilst the rest of the first-team squad tour New Zealand. The 27 year old was criticised for being overweight upon his return to pre-season training, as it became clear that the player was not about to be reincorporated into the side.
Ben Arfa has fallen down the midfield pecking order at Saint James’ Park recently, despite being a major player for the Magpies at one point in his career. At 27 years old, he still has a considerable portion of time left to play at another club, however, and the struggling Milan are hoping that he will choose to represent them.
Ben Arfa still maintains a good relationship with Newcastle fans, having achieved status as a fans favourite relatively early on in his time at Newcastle. However, the Magpies are likely to listen very carefully for any bid that they receive for the player, especially if it is within the region of their £12 million valuation.
