Crystal Palace are lining up a bid to bring Sebastian Bassong to Selhurst Park, reports talkSPORT. The Norwich City defender has been frozen out of the first team at Carrow Road, and could be available for as little as £2 million.
The Cameroon international featured heavily in both of Norwich’s previous two Premier League seasons, but he has failed to make an appearance in the Championship so far. The Canaries were relegated into the second tier of English football last season, but Neil Adams appears content to use the likes of Michael Turner and Ryan Bennett in the City backline before Bassong.
As a result, the player could become available within the remaining days of the transfer window, and Palace will head the race to sign him. Bassong has plenty of Premier League experience having played for Tottenham Hotspur before his two year spell in Norfolk, and should bring to the Eagles’ backline extra strength and aerial ability.
Palace are expected to bring in fresh faces before the transfer window closes this summer, especially since appointing Neil Warnock as their new first-team manager. Warnock has been brought into the club just before the final weekend of the transfer market, and he is expected to be given funds in order to reshape his team a little before tackling the rest of the season.
