Southampton are amongst a number of Premier League clubs eyeing a move to sign Liverpool’s Joe Allen, the Star claims.
The midfielder has failed to live up to his £15 Million price tag following his switch from Swansea back in 2012, and is believed to be outside Jurgen Klopp’s plans for the term.
The Welsh international worked with former manager Brendan Rodgers at his former club, but following the Northern Irishman’s exit, his future looks uncertain at present.
Southampton, Leicester City and Stoke are now said to be monitoring the situation, with a view to a possible move in the January window.
The 25 year-old will most likely be keen on a switch in hope of more regular football, especially with Euro 2016 coming up at the end of the league term.
Allen is said to favour a return back to Swansea however, although Huw Jenkins is said to be reluctant to sign former stars, despite Gylfi Sigurdsson’s return to form since returning to the club, after a stint with league rivals Tottenham.
