Swansea City are bracing themselves for a barrage of transfer offers on Jose Canas before the end of the transfer window, as interest in the player has erupted over Europe, reports talkSPORT. Canas only joined the Liberty Stadium side 12 months ago, but the Swans could struggle to keep hold of him this year.
Canas moved to the Premier League side from Real Betis this time last year. A free transfer then, he is expected to conduct a notable transfer fee should he part company with the Welsh side this summer. The 27 year old made 35 appearances last year, establishing himself as an important member within a reasonably successful squad.
Interest in him has largely come from Italy and Spain, with up to 7 sides thought to have Canas on their radar. In Italy, Atlanta, Chievo and Sassuolo all offer the chance to play Serie A football. Whilst in Spain, the La Liga quartet of Celta Vigo, Elche, Getafe and Malaga are all monitoring the midfielder’s situation.
At present, Swansea have not indicated any desire to sell the player, who they deem to be an important member of their dressing room. However, should a bidding war erupt for Canas, then the price could become too tempting to turn down. The process is at an early stage, but it could turn into a very lucrative one for Garry Monk and the Swans.
