22-year old English winger Tom Ince rejected a winter move to Liverpool to join Crystal Palace in January, says his father and ex-Blackpool boss Paul Ince. Tom Ince had a rather unfruitful time at Anfield in 2010 when he was not granted a single Premier League opportunity, which may have swayed his mind in favour of a January switch to Crystal Palace.
The Blackpool winger is on loan with the Eagles until the end of the season, when he will become a free agent. Tom’s father Paul Ince was quoted in the Daily Mirror as saying, “Liverpool were in but I don’t think Thomas is ready to go to Liverpool yet.Brendan [Rodgers] has done very well there and he does play the kids but for his progression as a footballer it needed to be a Stoke, a Swansea, a Palace or a Hull at this point.”
The former English international midfielder though did not rule out a future move to Anfield for his son as Liverpool could offer him exposure to the highest level of football in a few years time.
Missing out on Tom Ince may not be as big a blow for Liverpool this season as manager Brendan Rodgers has many capable wingers at his disposal at the moment.
Tom Ince is highly rated in Championship circles and one can be rest-assured that the 22-year old’s performances this season in the Premier League will be closely monitored by a number of top clubs in England.
