On February 1st, Manchester City finally announced that Pep Guardiola will take over from Manuel Pellegrini at the end of the season.
The Bayern Munich boss has been linked with a move to City for months but the club chose to make that news public on deadline day – a decision that completely distracted all attention away from a lacklustre transfer window.
While they were quiet off the field in January, Manchester City were very busy on the pitch.
Pellegrini’s men advanced to the final of the Capital One Cup, reached the next round of the FA Cup and closed the gap at the top of the Premier League table.
Next up for City is a home clash against Spurs and all of the latest betting odds on the match are available at Bookies.com – as well as a few Pep Guardiola specials.
However, the summer’s transfer window won’t be lacklustre. In fact, Manchester City are expected to be incredibly busy.
According to reports, the club are set to give Guardiola upwards of £150 million to spend on new signings and his number one target is apparently none other than Juventus and former Manchester United star Paul Pogba.
To give a direct comparison, Pogba is a young Yaya Toure. He can be Pep’s driving force in midfield… IF Guardiola wants him.
During his Barcelona days, Guardiola sold Toure to City and it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see the Ivory Coast international move on again.
Ultimately, he just doesn’t fit Guardiola’s system and style of play.
So in that case, why would Pogba? Well, Guardiola can tailor Pogba’s hunger to succeed and transform him into a real midfield powerhouse.
For Juventus, he can sometimes lose focus and grow frustrated but that wouldn’t happen under Guardiola.
The Spaniard expects nothing less than 100% from every player on the field and isn’t afraid to hook those who aren’t giving their all.
While Toure has been an excellent servant for the club, his time is up – and he knows it.
The midfielder just isn’t the same player that he was a few years back and City should cash in on the star now, whilst they can still sell him for a reasonable price.
It’s likely that an MLS or Chinese club will bid for Toure and he may venture to new shores for his next career move.
Throughout the remainder of the season, fans keep can up to date with all of the latest transfer news and information at Bookies.com. In fact, there are transfer specials in their football betting odds markets and punters can place a wager on Pogba to move to the Etihad Stadium before the end of the summer transfer window.
Pogba and Manchester City just seem to go hand-in-hand and United fans will be smarming if the Frenchman is a huge success for their nearest rivals.
Only time will tell but the chances of Pogba moving to the Premier League are likely and if he does, Pep Guardiola’s City will be his number one destination.
