Jose Mourinho wants to take over the helm at Manchester United or Liverpool, the DailyStar reports.
The Portuguese was fired from his managerial role at Chelsea this week, despite signing a new five-year contract only this summer.
The sacking was a long time coming, having lost a huge nine of his opening 16 league matches, but the news still managed to shock a large number of fans and pundits alike.
Mourinho is now claimed to be in want of a move to Man United or Liverpool, according to journalist Rob Beasley.
The Anfield club have recently hired Jurgen Klopp, so you would expect that to have closed an opportunity of a move there in the near future, but United’s manager is not so secure in his role.
Louis Van Gaal is the current favourite to be the next Premier League boss removed from his role, and news that the former Real Madrid, Porto and Inter Milan manager wants his job could add extra pressure to the Dutchman.
Beasley said: “He’d love to manage United.
“The two clubs he always talked about were Liverpool – that’s gone now – he would have loved to have gone up there and reawakened Merseyside and won the league with them. The other was Manchester United.
“He thought – and Fergie thought – he was getting the job when Fergie was leaving, they had spoken about it.
“It seemed Fergie was setting Jose up to take over. But he ended up back at Chelsea.
“Manchester United, he would love it. Imagine Jose Mourinho walking out in front of the Stretford End and giving them the pump fists. ‘What can we do? You’re the 12th man.’ The fans would go mental!”
