Arsenal are keeping tabs on Genoa’s Armando Izzo ahead of the upcoming winter window, the Express reports.
The 23 year-old has been impressing since making the move up to the Italian top division last season, and is now attracting interest from Premier League challengers Arsenal.
The Gunners have been linked with an interest in fellow Italian Daniele Rugani also, but the Genoa defender will more than likely be available for a much more reasonable price, due to the former having four-and-a-half years remaining on his Juventus deal.
Benfica are believed to be lining up a move for Izzo, and could go head-to-head with the Gunners over the centre-back’s signature.
Arsenal currently hold the second-best defensive record in the Premier League, having conceded only nine goals in their opening 12 matches, one more than close rivals Manchester United.
The North-London side failed to sign a single outfield player during the summer, and are expected to rectify their failings in the new year.
