Blaise Matuidi’s agent Mino Raiola has revealed there was a number of offers on the table for his client, but they opted to stay put, TalkSport reported.
Arsenal and Chelsea were both linked with moves for the central midfielder, and may well have tabled bids, considering the statement by Raiola.
The Gunners failed to bring in a single outfield playing in the close-season, despite calls for them to bring in competition for breakthrough star Francis Coquelin.
Chelsea were believed to be close to selling Jon Obi Mikel to Besiktas, and that deal would certainly have gone through if they had completed a deal for an improved replacement.
Raiola now claims the top ten clubs in Europe all wanted him, and still do, but Matuidi listened to his heart and stayed with PSG.
His agent said: “Blaise Matuidi stayed at PSG because his heart is Parisian.
“Europe’s top ten wanted him. Today they do still, there would be no problem in terms of selling him!”
Raiola is also the agent of Juventus star Paul Pogba, who was also linked with a move to the Premier League in the summer, but no team met his €100 Million asking price.
