Desperate to gain promotion to the Premier League next season, QPR boss Harry Redknapp is reportedly eyeing another trip to former club Tottenham, this time for the signature of young forward Harry Kane.
The 66 year old has already succeeded in landing Tom Carroll and Benoit Assou-Ekotto on loan at Loftus Road this season, but following doubts over the fitness of the ageing Andy Johnson and Bobby Zamora, is also keen to land England Under-21 striker Kane.
Redknapp was quoted in The Daily Mirror, saying: “I was going to take Harry on the deadline. I was going to take him that night when AJ [Andy Johnson] looked like he was going to Palace. Now, I don’t know. Harry’s probably the third choice at Spurs now. Whether they’ll still loan him, I don’t know. They might do. Andy Johnson missed all of last season – is he going to stay fit? Bobby Zamora’s had problems too. That is the only area. Everywhere else I’m very happy with.”
Kane, 20, broke into Spurs’ first team in 2009 but has since spent plenty of time at other clubs. He has been on loan at Leyton Orient, Millwall (where he was named as the club’s Young Player of the Season) and most recently at Norwich City and Leicester City.
