Inter Milan and Argentina legend Esteban Cambiasso is set to join Leicester City in one of the shock summer transfers of this year, according to reports in the English press. The midfielder has been in negotiations with the Foxes for a number of days, but his switch to the Premier League is set to be finalised shortly.
Cambiasso is a legend at the San Siro, having spent a decade with Inter, but he has also represented Real Madrid at an earlier point in his career. With over 300 Serie A appearances to his name, the midfielder is amongst the most experienced top-level performers in football today, making his proposed switch an even greater coup.
Nigel Pearson and Leicester have identified him as the man to bring an extra touch of quality to their side next season, as the Foxes look to avoid relegation. Cambiasso is set to be given a lucrative two year deal at the club after lengthy, and seemingly successful talks.
Leicester have also beaten away interest from fellow Premier League new boys, Queens Park Rangers. Harry Redknapp had lined up a late move looking to hijack the Foxes’ plans, but Cambiasso still looks most likely to join Leicester. It is a reported dream of the player’s to play in the English top flight, and he is almost certain to be given significant first-team opportunities under Pearson.
