Barcelona vice Susana Monje has revealed that the club are looking to spend in the upcoming window, amidst links with Chelsea’s Diego Costa and Liverpool Philippe Coutinho, the Express reports.
The Catalan club are preparing to buy players in January, having been under a 12 month transfer ban which has prevented them from registering any new stars.
The ban has failed to deter them from making purchases however, despite their inability to use their new signings, and have completed deals for the arrivals of Aleix Vidal and Arda Turan from Sevilla and Atletico Madrid respectively.
Their vice-president has now talked up the club’s ability to spend, with some sources having claimed they were not in a position to buy at present.
Monje said: “The club can afford to make a (transfer) effort this winter, yes.
“We are in control. We can afford it. I am very satisfied.
“The club has room and can afford to sign (players).”
Barca have been linked with moves to sign key Liverpool and Chelsea stars Coutinho and Diego Costa, while Arsenal will also not be pleased, with the Gunners said to be keen on Nolito, who is also believed to be on their radar.
