Man United boss keen on reuniting with proven Champions League winning goalscorer

Manchester United boss Louis Van Gaal is claimed in the Metro as looking to sign Mario Gomez.

The Dutchman worked with the German international with Bayern Munich previously, where the striker netted a tidy 53 goals under Van Gaal in his two season’s as his boss.

Gomez went onto win a domestic league and cup double in LVG’s debut season, before the manager had his contract cancelled late into his second term, and the 30 year-old went onto lead his side to a domestic and European treble in his final season at the club.

He is currently on loan with Besiktas, scoring nine goals in his 13 matches so far this season, having been loaned out by Fiorentina after missing out on plenty of playing time due to injuries since joining La Viola.

Manchester United are now looking to strike a deal to bring him to the Premier League in January, having played out three consecutive 0-0 stalemates of late.

  1. LvG is looking in the wrong direction for a striker.Unless he is looking at Gomez as a super sub as Fergie had the Swede goal poacher. Otherwise he should swallow his pride/big ego and re-sign the Chilean from Dynamo Zagreb.
