The Metro claims that Manchester United could be set to sign John Stones from Everton in a British record deal.
The 21 year-old has already earned a regular starting role for club and country over the past couple of seasons, and is tipped to move to a bigger club in the near future.
Chelsea publicly pursued the young centre-back during the summer, but the Merseyside club stood firm on their stance, and refused to sell, despite Stones handing in a transfer request.
The young star is expected to be the subject of further interest in the coming window, with Barcelona and Manchester United now said to be ready to make moves for his signature.
The Red Devils are said to be willing to pay the highest fee, which could see them win the race for his signature, although Everton might prefer to see their coveted youngster move abroad instead.
United are said to be willing to meet his £45 Million asking price, which would set a new British record for a defender if it was completed.
