Man United fail in final bid for long term target

Manchester United have failed in their final bid to bring the Juventus ace Arturo Vidal to Old Trafford, reports the Express. The Chilean midfielder has been on the United radar for the majority of the summer, but Louis Van Gaal looks set to be disappointed in his attempts to buy him.

United have reportedly issued a £30 million offer for Vidal, within the early parts of transfer deadline day. However, Juve have stood firm on their assessment of the situation, by knocking back the latest advance on one of their prise players. The Turin club have maintained all summer that Vidal is not for sale, and they look likely to stand by their word.

The Serie A champions of the last 3 seasons, Juventus are keen to keep together the core group of their players as they search for more domestic success, and better performances in the Champions’ League. Antonio Conte has parted company with the club as manager, but the majority of the team has so far kept together within this year’s transfer window.

Manchester United might look elsewhere within the remaining few hours of the window, although Van Gaal might be forced to stick with the squad he has got. Ander Herrera was brought in at an earlier point of this summer in order to strengthen the midfield, whilst Angel di Maria has been bought to add extra attacking prowess in wide positions. The club have Michael Carrick to return from injury before Christmas, but they will be disappointed at having missed out on Vidal regardless.
