Despite his signing for Manchester United weeks ago, Marcos Rojo is still yet to debut for the Red Devils due to VISA problems. The Argentine international is to fly to Lisbon this week, however, and should be available for selection against Queens Park Rangers next weekend, reports the Daily Mail.
The delay in Rojo’s being awarded a work permit could be linked to an alleged criminal investigation dating back to 2010 for which the player has not been charged, reports the Daily Mail. Whatever the reason, Rojo has missed three games for his new club since joining, but should be absent or their upcoming fixture against Harry Redknapp’s men.
Rojo is expected to play in a defensive line-up which could also include Daley Blind, although Luke Shaw is still sidelined through injury. It is most likely that Rojo will be pushed across to the left full-back position whilst Shaw recovers on the sidelines, although the Argentine could also feature at the heart of the United defence.
When United line-up against Rangers, it will be the first time that either club will have turned out since the closing of the transfer window. Blind and Rojo are likely to be granted debuts for Louis van Gaal’s men, as is Radamel Falcao. The Colombian forward has arrived at the club on a season-long loan, and will play alongside Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie in a new look United attack.
