Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp has revealed that his maverick midfielder Adel Taarabt wants to leave Loftus Road, reports talkSPORT. The attacker spent last season on loan at Fulham and AC Milan, with the latter showing interest in signing him permanently to their Serie A outfit.
Taarabt has returned to the Premier League new boys for pre-season training, but has not maintained adequate fitness levels for his manager. It is becoming increasingly likely that the Moroccan will make a transfer this summer, although his exact destination and fee are unknown at the moment.
Milan have reportedly tabled an offer of £3 million for the player, but QPR value the 25 year old at a higher price than that. Having finished outside of the European spaces in Serie A last season, however, this is not expected to be a summer during which Milan spend masses of money in the transfer window.
Speaking about the player, Redknapp’s main concern was Taarabt’s fitness levels. For the Hoops boss, the midfielder would struggle to break into his side, even if he did want to stay. ‘He’s not fit; and I think he’s looking to move, and I wish him well,’ said Redknapp, ‘And he’s not done one real day’s training since we’ve been back, with injuries and that.’
