Queens Park Rangers are looking to take advantage of any clear out that new Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino may want in his squad.
The Daily Express is reporting that QPR boss Harry Redknapp is particularly interested in signing Michael Dawson and Andros Townsend from his former club, should Pochettino not rate them highly enough to make them key members of his new team.
Spurs signed 7 players last summer to compensate for the sale of Gareth Bale, along with squad players such as Clint Dempsey and Tom Huddlestone. However the majority of those signings have not lived up to expectations, and some may find themselves moved on this summer.
However part of the attraction of hiring Pochettino is his ability to get the best out of players, and Tottenham are especially keen to get the best out of record signing Erik Lamela, an Argentinian compatriot of Pochettino who has struggled to adapt to the Premier League and British culture.
Whether the scale of Tottenham’s spending last year will allow them to bring in new players this summer is unknown. Even if significant funds are available, Pochettino will want to avoid a bloated squad, and players like Townsend and Dawson could be the first ones to make way for Pochettino’s Spurs revolution.
