La Liga expert Guillem Balague has claimed that Real Madrid remain in the market to sign David De Gea, the Metro reports.
The Spanish giants failed to sign the Matt Busby Player of the Year of last season, after the clubs failed to file the adequate paperwork before the transfer window closed in September.
De Gea has since signed a new contract with United, whilst Real have enjoyed the impressive form of Keylor Navas this term, reducing the need of a new shotstopper.
Despite these facts, Balague still believes De Gea will be a target for the Bernebeu side, with his superstar status making him a good ‘business’ target.
The Spanish football expert said: ‘Real Madrid don’t make decisions in terms of big signings based on sporting reasons, it is mainly down to business plans.
‘De Gea fits the business plan of having a superstar in goal instead of Keylor Navas who is very good. So I wouldn’t be surprised if they go back for De Gea.’
The two clubs will have to get over the failure in communication which lead to the breakdown of the move on deadline day, whilst De Gea will most likely blame the Spanish club, with his current club having blamed them for the sham.
